Today we commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
It’s hard to even articulate all the strides he has made on behalf of black people. He is a true example of fighting for what you believe in against all odds. I can’t say that I would have had the gall to be like him in his day; leading people in peace and love. But his practices (with the help of Gandhi 😉 ) are certainly ones that we should all try to emulate.
But I’m proud to have someone who looks like me who did something in his life that was truly noteworthy. Someone who sacrificed himself for the good of the people which ultimately cost him his life.
Thanks, Dr. King for all you’ve done in America for black people. I only hope that we can do a BETTER job of honoring your legacy and that of all the other heroes who paved the way for black people to have the opportunities we have in America.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
