This afternoon I had the pleasure of accompanying my friend/sister at the school where she is an athletic trainer.
The kids had a sort of field day that they titled the Hunger Games. They used the event to raise awareness for those living without food security and asked all the participants (and the rest of the students) to donate canned goods.
The kids ended up collecting almost 10,000 (TEN THOUSAND!!!) canned goods and non-perishable food items to donate to the North Texas Food Bank. Who says you have to wait till the holidays to give? If these kids can get it, so can everyone else who has something to give.
I was just glad to be a part of something that would be beneficial to so many people.
And of course, watching the kids try to demolish each other in their competitions and cutting up with my girl didn’t hurt either 😉
