This past weekend I went to din din with my sisters and tried Jamaican food for the first time. I’m shocked it took me so long! I’ve had Nigerian, Ethiopian, Thai, Cuban, Italian, Mexican, Indian, Cambodian, and all types of other food, so I don’t know why it took me so long to get some Jamaican food, but boy am I glad I did.
Recently, I have decided to severely reduce my meat intake. By reduce, I mean eliminate. But, I just couldn’t do it. I had to have some jerk chicken.
We went to Jamaica Cabana. It’s in Richardson (Texas) on Campbell and Plano Road. It’s a startup filled with yummy authentic Jamaican food. We got to meet the owner and his lovely wife (who will not divulge her secret snapper recipe, so don’t try it). The friendly environment, and great hospitality were enough to make me come back…but then the FOOD came out. My intestines leaped for joy.
Combined, we consumed a veggie platter, one whole red snapper, jerk chicken, a lot of rice and peas, plantain, and rum cake potent enough to give you a buzz.
The food is made to order so the wait is a bit longer than your typical fast food restaurant, but good things come to those who wait. You could literally taste the love and freshness in the food. I will definitely be back. If anyone is in the Dallas area, be sure to pay them a visit!

That looks sooo good! And it isn’t far from where I live. Going to have to give it a try.
Thanks for sharing.
If you go let me know if you like it. And don’t forget it’s BYOB 😉
