Vegan Challenge Update: How It Has Affected My Appetite, Energy, Skin and Weight

I’ve been at this vegan challenge for two weeks now, so I figured I’d do an update. It’s been much easier than I expected. I thought I’d be on the floor convulsing the first week, but it flew by like a breeze. So let’s get into how this challenge has been affecting me.

How Veganism Has Affected My appetite:
I thought I’d be starving all the time, but the opposite has happened. I have been significantly less hungry than I have been in the past. I’m going to have to do some research and see what the science is behind that, but it’s been blowing my mind. I feel satisfied more often, I can digest my food, and I practically have to force myself to eat because I’m not hungry much. I’m also satisfied with smaller portions of food.

How Veganism Has Affected My Energy:
The first week, I was exhausted. I don’t know whether to attribute that to the fact that I was running on a few hours of sleep every night (I’m one of those people who needs all 8 hours) or because I was adjusting to a new diet. However, this week I’ve had crazy energy. I’m bouncing off the walls. I have to force myself to sleep at night. I am also getting a lot of things done. I love it.

How Veganism Has Affected My Skin:
My skin is still volatile y’all. That’s just the nature of it. I have come to realize that it does what it wants how it wants when it wants. I have noticed that it reacts very negatively to dairy. On the days when I ate exactly how I was supposed to, my skin started clearing up. When I indulged (I cheated on the weekend) my face freaked out. That’s the usual. I have just accepted the fact that I need to stay away from dairy. Far far away.

As far as my other skin goes, it has cleared up drastically. A couple of days before I went vegan, I developed this rash on my abdomen. The rash has completely cleared up since. I also had random rashes on my arms and neck, which are now gone. So that’s dope.

How Veganism Has Affected My Weight:
I didn’t start this challenge to lose weight at all. I was interested to see if it would make a difference in my weight, and it has. I have never been less bloated in my life. My stomach seems to be flatter, which I really enjoy. I really enjoy it, y’all. I have dropped a couple of pounds but not too many.

Again, I am really enjoying this challenge. It hasn’t been challenging for me very much at all. I just may have to extend this beyond the month of September 😉
