This year I decided to start something that had been on my heart, but I was waiting for someone else to take the initiative to do it. I wanted to create a space for women to get together and share ideas, experiences, resources, and uplift each other. We always get portrayed as catty, combative, and competitive in the media, and I wanted us to have a space to tune that out. Because of this, I started KISS Coalition. We’ll be having our first brunch this coming January, and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve been pretty hesitant about doing this because I feel like my attempts at starting something like this in the past have all failed. I have learned, however, that failure is simply a means of getting rid of a wrong choice. Sometimes, in order to find out what does work, you have to find out what doesn’t work.
