My Must Haves for Glowing Summer Skin

In case you hadn’t noticed, summer is here. That means boat parties, margaritas (as if you needed another excuse), bright pedicures, and way less fabric than usual. I live in Texas so the only real way to beat the heat is to stay hydrated, and stay inside. For some strange reason, however, scorching summers hardly stop the social scene in Dallas, so if you can’t take the heat then stay out of the kitchen.

I probably have some of the driest skin I’ve ever seen, which, of all things, I inherited from my father. Do I let that stop me? Of course not. I’ve got scalloped shorts, and midi skirts that I can’t let go to waste. Needless to say, I’ve been getting my Frankenstein on experimenting to see what works for me and I think I’ve found my cocktail.

Here are my must-haves for glowing summer skin

Dry Brush
All you have to do is Google it or look it up on Youtube and you’ll find a million resources with information on dry brushing. It’s essential for someone like me who needs to be constantly removing old skin. I do it right before I get in the shower and it makes my skin super soft.

LUSH Buffy Bar
I got tipped onto this from Myleik Teele, and she rarely steers your girl wrong so I decided to give it a try.Girl. You need to get one of these. You wet it and rub it on your body in the shower and then rinse it off and SLAY. It has helped my skin retain moisture, which is something that no other product has ever done for me. Ever.

Coconut Oil
This is an old faithful. I ran out of coconut oil and started experimenting with other oils, and even if it’s for the scent alone I love coconut oil. It’s like rolling around in smell goods on a tropical island, minus all the fragrances and perfumes in other products, which just make my skin worse. Plus it’s got some SPF to protect your skin while you’re out in the sun.

Water
I know it’s cliche, but you have got to stay hydrated. Water, Smoothies, Juices, Coconut water. All of it. It helps flush the junk out of your system and makes your skin supple and helps with elasticity, and will make your life better.

What do you do for your summer glow?
