I want to be a woman of my word.
I have not been.
I am working to change that.
It all started when I was scrolling down my Facebook news feed and I saw a video of Courtney Sanders of Think and Grow Chick. I didn’t watch the video for a couple of days, but it kept popping up on my feed. Taunting me. After I had ignored it for long enough I went ahead and clicked the video and spent about 20 minutes listening to Courtney beckon me to get my life together. I know she wasn’t talking specifically to me, but lowkey she was talking to me specifically.
I have been ignoring following Courtney for over a year now and have chosen not to take any of her advice, but this video led me down a rabbit hole of stalking her online until I stumbled upon a free 3-day discipline challenge. I had completed the challenge once before in hopes to win a dinner in Dallas with Myliek Teele, to no avail. This time, I was doing it just for me. And I failed.
I realized that I needed a little nudge and some guidance to get my life on track and to light a little fire under me to make moves on the goals I have for my life. So, I signed up for the 21-day No-Excuses Woman course. When I say signed up, I mean I paid for it. Y’all know I have to be really interested to put money into it. And here I am.
I’m at the beginning stages of the course and am already learning really valuable lessons about discipline and motivation. I’m being reminded that I’m the only person standing between me and my goals and it’s up to me to make the sacrifices necessary to get there. On top of the workbook and daily audio sessions, we were asked to complete 1 task every day for 21 days as part of the course. One task to get us closer to the person we want to be. I chose working out. I need the discipline and the energy that comes along with it. At first, I wasn’t feeling it too much. However, as I started keeping my word and keeping the commitment to myself, my mind started shifting. Now, I’m on my way to a better me. By the time the New Year rolls around, I’ll already have been working on my resolutions.
I said all that to say that you don’t have many options regarding the type of life you have as a child. However, as an adult it really is all up to you. There is no situation that cannot be overcome with the right mindset, education on the subject, and consistent effort on your part. I’m finally doing my part. Now I’m asking you to join me. If you’re really invested, you can check out the program at Think and Grow Chick. If that’s doing too much, I ask that you pick one thing you can do to get yourself closer to your goal every day and finish it. Every day, focus on finishing that one thing. Then see how far it takes you!
