Hey fam! I hope you’re good and recovered from all the turkey and stuffing. I know I’m still getting there.
Anywho, today I’m here to talk to you about hygiene. In my circle I’m known as the natural one. I always have a concoction for an ailment and I like the products I use to be effective without all the needless harsh chemicals.
I also think it’s important to share that I’m not doing this as a trend. Years ago I started getting rashes, breakouts, product build up, and dry/irritated skin from my hygiene products. I was tired of it and decided that it was time for me to switch things up. Since then, I’ve experimented with a lot of things but I’m sharing the products that have stuck with me.
I am not one of those rosey people who never smells bad. I am prone to B.O. so I don’t use stuff that doesn’t do its job. You can take my word that the stuff I use yields the same results I was getting with the toxic products I used to buy.
Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castille Soap
I have used the bars and the liquid soap and love it for everything. Body, feminine, face, hair. It cleans everything and is super potent.
Schmidt’s Sensitive Skin Deodorant
I started using the Lavender deodorant but it burned my pits so I switched to the sensitive skin formula and I’ve had no issues. It’s not as long lasting as a deodorant that contains aluminum, but it works. It’s not an antiperspirant, so expect to sweat. But I can tolerate that if it means I’m not clogging up my lymphatic system. Plus, this formula has a more traditional deodorant consistency than some other natural deodorants.
Coconut Oil
I slather in this as soon as I turn the shower head off to lock in moisture. If I need anything additional I use vegetable glycerin and Shea moisture lotion.
Kiss My Face Flouride-free toothpaste
This works just like normal toothpaste. Personally, I have to refresh pretty regularly throughout the day, but that’s how it’s always been for me so it doesn’t matter what I use. Flouride is not something that we need to be ingesting daily, so I’ve chosen to go this route.
My hubby has even started using some of my stuff and enjoys that it works for his sensitive skin! #issawin
This sums up what I’ve been using for personal hygiene. For those who are seeking more natural alternatives to their daily hygiene products, give these a try and let me know what you think!
