I’m pretty sure that I’m the last person on earth to try Fenty Beauty. But it’s like they say, better late than never!
I purchased the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear foundation in the shade 390, a Matchstix Shimmer Skinstick in the shade Mocha and the Fenty Glow Gloss Bomb.
The verdict?
The foundation is medium coverage at best so it’s not going to do a ton for your special occasion events if you’re someone like me who has hyperpigmentation. If your skin is already flawless you’ll have no issues. It’s pretty matte, and dries super quickly so you have to pump and blend for dear life if you don’t want to be blotchy. I would not recommend it for days when you need a full beat down, but I think it’s perfect for everyday wear, especially in the summertime. This foundation has stood up to the Texas heat without melting away. It stays on and in place all day, so mad props for that. Since I got it, I have been reaching for it daily. I apply it with my fingers and rock and roll. When I apply with a damp beauty blender I get a much better finish. Also, you have to cleanse thoroughly to remove it. I lie to you not when I say it doesn’t budge.
Onto the skin stick. Sis. Friend. Honey. Baby. Get you some. It’s beautiful. The light has never caressed my cheekbone as eloquently as it has since I purchased this product. I hope it never runs out. It’s almost a cream so it doesn’t create too much texture on your face. It gives more of that soft shimmer than the big gold flecks in some highlights. If you struggle with texture like me, try applying it directly to a brush and then using your brush to dust your face. This will make it way less dramatic than applying it directly to your face. I love it.
I enjoyed the lip gloss. It’s not too sticky and it lasts forever. My lips draw a lot of attention and I can’t be walking around looking crazy so it’s been a pleasure to have a gloss that doesn’t absorb or slide off in twenty minutes like most do. I apply it and maybe have to touch up once during the day, but otherwise it lasts. It’s expensive for a clear lip gloss, IMO. But, honestly, so is a lot of the makeup we buy.
Overall, I would say the price point is a little on the higher end for what you get, but that’s to be expected. I will use the foundation and lip gloss until they run out but I probably won’t repurchase. I wasn’t blown away by them. I would definitely buy that ol’ sexy skinstick again. Surprisingly enough, I think the biggest selling point for these products is the extremely long-lasting wear. It’s more than just in the name. They really won’t quit on you.
